YMCA of Northern Alberta chosen by Government of Alberta to operate nineteen child care sites offering $25/day child care under expanded government-funded program
The Government of Alberta has signalled its confidence in the YMCA as an experienced and trusted leader in delivering high-quality, affordable, and accessible early learning and child care in Alberta. As the largest provider of not-for-profit licensed child care in Alberta, the Province selected 29 YMCA Child Care Centres across the province to deliver $25/day child care under an expanded government-funded program:
·YMCA Calgary – 7 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Lethbridge – 1 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Medicine Hat – 2 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Northern Alberta – 19 Child Care Centres
In granting this funding to YMCAs in Alberta, the government is recognizing our collective expertise in providing developmentally-appropriate and curriculum-based child care throughout the province.
The YMCA of Northern Alberta was awarded nineteen (19) $25/day Child Care Centre grants at the following locations:
Grande Prairie: 3 locations
- YMCA Clairmont Child Care
- YMCA Patterson Child Care
- YMCA St. John II Child Care (Opening September 2018)
Fort McMurray: 1 location
- YMCA Birchwood Child Care
Edmonton: 15 locations
- YMCA Beaverbrook Child Care (Spruce Grove)
- YMCA Castle Downs Child Care
- YMCA Citadel Child Care (St. Albert)
- YMCA Clareview Child Care
- YMCA Devonshire Child Care
- YMCA Ellwood Child Care
- YMCA Jamie Platz Child Care
- YMCA Kipnes Child Care
- YMCA Norwood Child Care
- YMCA Parkallen Child Care
- YMCA Shirley Stollery Child Care
- YMCA St. Gabriel Child Care
- YMCA St. Monica Child Care (Opening September 2018)
- YMCA Westglen Child Care
- YMCA William Lutsky Child Care

The YMCA of Northern Alberta currently provides child care services to over 897 children, aged 12 months to 5 years of age in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray (Wood Buffalo) each week.

Our national YMCA Playing to Learn© curriculum for children from infancy to age six marked a milestone in early learning pedagogy, establishing play as essential to school readiness and the healthy social and cognitive development of all children.
