William Lutsky Family YMCA - due to the extreme cold temperatures, we are experiencing issues with the heating systems in both women's change room. All change rooms are open for use, but please expect cooler than normal temperatures during use. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Castle Downs Family YMCA has received a generous gift of materials and labour from Achieve Concrete and Vivid Homes.  This in-kind donation will go towards supporting our facility upgrade through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, an initiative of the Government of Canada that is delivered by Western Economic Diversification Canada.

“The expansion of the project has been made possible thanks to generous donations from Achieve Concrete and Vivid Homes,” says Nick Parkinson, President and CEO of The YMCA of Northern Alberta.  “These additions will allow us to increase our engagement with families, children and youth in our community through increased program and service offerings.”

Renovations to the Castle Downs Family YMCA include installing a new hard surface basketball court, adding a family picnic area with tables and shelter, as well as much needed fencing and an access ramp.  The upgrades will provide fantastic opportunities for youth and family engagement and will meet the needs of the growing Castle Downs community, where over half of households are families with children.

“Developing this area will extend our space and serve as a gathering place for families,” says Karen Neff, Centre Manager of the Castle Downs Family YMCA.  “It will engage children and youth through physical activity in an outdoor environment, supporting our charity’s key values as well as our facility’s core programming.”

Site preparation is already underway to the right of the front entrance and will be completed in the Spring of 2017.
