Westwood YMCA has the following hourly position working Monday- Friday, variable shifts (days, afternoons and evenings)

Team Lead Cleaning and Maintenance

The YMCA is a charitable, mission based organization dedicated to the development of thousands of people in spirit, mind and body. The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking an enthusiastic individual that will supervise and coach the facility attendant team and deliver high quality cleaning and deep cleaning (as required) to maintain the cleanliness in the change rooms, washrooms, program areas, and common areas.

Salary: $20-$23.50/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership/training to the part time/full time facility attendants.
  • Develop and maintain facility attendant work schedule.
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of both general and youth change rooms, washrooms and common areas.
  • Comply with standards and practices to meet all local and provincial codes as well as YMCA established practices (WHMIS, Public Health).
  • Perform weekly water test samples for AHS.Help in maintaining proper chemical balances in all pool areas.
  • Perform general maintenance duties and log requirements in maintenance planning schedule.
  • Assist in the completion of daily deep cleaning tasks as required or as scheduled by the cleaning routine (steam cleaning, floor striping, high cleaning, floor waxing).
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, and request supplies to be ordered when needed.
  • Identify and delegate extra cleaning duties as required; assist other team members when necessary in completion of duties as assigned.
  • Contribute as a member of the staff team in the operation of the centre, and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Manage onsite contactors.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • Minimum high school or equivalent
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Child Welfare & Police Security Clearance (will provide) WHMIS Certification (will provide)
  • Pool Operator’s Level1 would be an asset

Experience

  • Previous cleaning and/or janitorial experience an asset.
  • Previous maintenance experience an asset.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to lead and work with staff teams
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Literacy level adequate to read and follow written cleaning and safety standards and ability to complete the assigned duties to the quality level established.
