Helping young people grow up healthy, active and engaged is why the Y exists. We’ve been providing camps for more than 100 years to help children and youth build confidence, leadership skills and environmental awareness. Kids ages 4–16 can choose from a wide range of camps offered across Northern Alberta during summer months and school breaks.

Summer Camps

YMCA Summer Camps are designed to spark the imagination, confidence, independence and communication skills of all our campers.  All participants will have the opportunity to create positive peer and adult friendships. Through YMCA Healthy Child Development participants will learn physical literacy skills and complete daily physical activity requirements.

Our Edmonton and Wood Buffalo summer camps and day camps will offer international activities, games, hands on learning, develop skills, create crafts, swimming and more.

We motivate our campers to practice the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Diversity and Social Inclusion through our bead program.  Campers have the ability to earn Value Beads throughout their week in camp and add them each day.

Camps are conveniently located in Edmonton and Wood Buffalo centres, with FREE before and after camp care to make drop off and pick up easy for you:

  • FREE Pre-Care (7:30 am - 8:30 am) and FREE Post-Care (4:30 pm - 5:30 pm) in Edmonton!
  • FREE Pre-Care (7:00 am - 8:30 am) and FREE Post-Care (4:30 pm - 6:00 pm) in Wood Buffalo!

As a charity (meaning we make no profit from our Summer Camps), compare our competitive Summer Camp and Day Camp prices with all other facilities.

Our summer camps and day camps have been enjoyed by many campers from our surrounding communities, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Acheson, Ardrossan, Fort Saskatchewan, Devon, Enoch, Nisku, Namao, Beaumont and Morinville.

Camp isn't just something to do when school's out — it's a life-changing experience! Flags are captured, friendships are forged, and somewhere in between, children discover themselves.

As Canada's largest camp provider, we deliver a unique blend of quality programs that build confidence, improve social skills, and foster independence and leadership. By building connections with other campers and YMCA staff, your child will be encouraged to reach for the best in themselves, and in others, every day — all while having fun!

WHY DOES A CHARITY HAVE SUMMER CAMPS?

Because the YMCA was created to help everyone reach their full potential mentally, emotionally, and physically (the summer camps and the swimming lessons and the gym part). Our mandate to create life-enhancing opportunities for the growth and development of all people speaks to the mind's right to imagine, the body's right to move, and the spirit's right to believe in itself. We believe that fulfilling your potential is everyone's right, every person's advantage and everybody's secret weapon.

If you or anyone you know needs financial assistance to send a kid to camp, please talk to our Members Sales and Service team. As a charity, we don't turn anyone away due to the inability to pay -- and Summer Camps and Day Camps are supported by our Opportunity Fund (which is funded by the donations of generous individuals and businesses to our YMCA Strong Kids Campaign).

If you'd like to help send a kid to camp, and give them an experience that will remaing with them for the rest of their life, you can donate directly here: ymca.ca/donate
