The NL program develops basic lifeguarding skills, principles, and the decision-making process to help lifeguards evaluate and adapt to different aquatic facilities and emergencies. It is a minimum requirement to lifeguard in Alberta. Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) is a course that develops the participant’s first aid skills with a focus on aquatic-related injuries. This course is equivalent to Standard First Aid and is applicable to all environments. Oxygen Administration provides the knowledge and techniques for the use of oxygen as a supplement in an emergency care situation.
