Bill Rees YMCA

13–19yrs

The YMCA’s Youth Transitions Program (YTP) is a free service focused on providing support to youth aged 13 – 19. Our team of Youth Advisors meet with youth from all walks of life to help them overcome their barriers, and support them in reaching their fullest potential.

UnCenZered, one of the workshops offered by YTP, is aimed at discussing the issues that young women face in today’s society.  This unique program consists of ten sessions and covers topics including, but not limited to: self-esteem, sexual health and gender identity, anger management, healthy relationships, personal health and hygiene, addictions, communication, self-image, and social media safety.

This workshop is geared towards youth between 13-19 years of age, who would like to strengthen their existing skill set while meeting new people in a supportive environment. Like all YTP workshops, UnCenZered uses a multi-media approach to facilitation, using lectures, videos, scenarios, guest speakers, and other interactive methods to ensure every learner achieves a full grasp of the material presented.

In addition to receiving ten weeks of instruction, participants attending the UnCenZered workshop will have access to a full range of other services provided by YTP including:

One-To-One Support

Youth Advisors are able to provide free supportive counselling, community referrals, advocacy services, life-skills workshops and job-search assistance. All youth who are connected to YTP have access to one of our three Youth Advisors who are able to meet with youth to create a plan to move the participant’s life in a positive direction.

YTP Rec Nights

The goal of the YTP Rec. Nights program is to introduce youth to recreational activities they may not normally get to experience. This free program meets once per week during after-school hours and provides an entertaining and safe place where youth are able to participate in new activities and make friends.

Additional Workshops

YTP offers a wide variety of additional workshops that can help meet the needs of our participants, including Urban Youth Life Skills, Band of Brothers, How to Adult and Sky High.
