Our Facility



  1. Members/participants enter the parkade and scan membership card barcode.
  2. Access gate opens and they proceed to a parking place.
  3. Upon leaving member/participant scans membership card at pay station and pays appropriate amount. They receive a receipt which they insert into machine at exit.

Day Rates  5:15am – 3:30 pm

  • Between 5:15am and 8:30am; no charge
  • Every hour after 8:30am to a maximum of 2 hours; $1.75 per hour
  • After 2 hours; $1.75 per 20 minutes
  • Maximum daily rate 8:30am – 3:30pm; $25.00

Evening Rate after 3:30 pm

  • First 3 hours; no charge
  • After 3 hours; flat fee of $2.00

Weekends and Holidays

  • First 3 hours; no charge
  • Each 3 hours after; $1.00
  • Maximum daily rate 6:00am – 6:00pm; $4.00

  • If a member cancels they are no longer eligible for the member parking discount.
  • YMCA members from other facilities will need to visit the front desk at the Don Wheaton Family facility and receive a membership ticket before parking discounts can be applied.

Our Namesake

Don and Marion Wheaton believed, from their early years in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, that “no man is an island” and that we all need to help our neighbors and improve the lives of our fellow citizens as we are able.

As a young adult, Don quietly committed to spend at least an hour each day in some kind of volunteer work for the benefit of his community. It is a commitment he honoured throughout his life. 

Don and Marion have been blessed with eight children, 34 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Family and service to the community are values that continue in succeeding generations.

Special thanks to the Don Wheaton Family for dedicating this YMCA to our Edmonton community on October 24, 2007.

General Information


As a YMCA member, you are expected to present your membership card for identification each time you enter the YMCA facility. This process ensures security and accurate statistics regarding facility usage. Should you forget your card, you may continue to use the facility with presentation of picture ID or phone number at the Member Services desk. Lost cards can be replaced at the Member Services desk.


Members are allowed to bring an unlimited number of guests to the YMCA. All guests are limited to 3 visits per calendar year at the guest rate and must be signed in at the membership desk upon each visit. 

Plus Members can bring their children into the Membership Plus locker room on Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays. Children must have an active membership, be supervised at all times, and be under the age of 18 years.

Member Etiquette

As a shared experience for everyone to enjoy, our members, volunteers and staff all pledge to treat one another with respect and dignity.  The YMCA of Northern Alberta is committed to practicing, demonstrating and upholding the YMCA character values of Caring, Respect, Honesty, Social Inclusion, Responsibility, and Diversity.


This pre-booked service is FREE for members (child requires membership) and offers parents the chance to utilize the facility while their children enjoy a safe, interactive and fun environment. A monthly theme and Active Start Physical Literacy are part of the Play Care Program. 


Come play with your children in our indoor playground, which has a variety of equipment suitable for children walking to six years. No food or drink is allowed in the playground for children and parents. Socks must be worn at all times, and active adult supervision is required. *Not available at all locations.


YMCA Membership includes full membership access to all YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres in Edmonton, as well as guest privileges to members at any other YMCA across Canada.


Going on holidays or just need a break?  You can place your membership on hold at no cost!  Provide written notice (5+ business days prior to your next scheduled payment) to place your membership on hold for 1–6 months.  After your hold, your membership will be reinstated and your account billed unless we receive notification of a change (5+ business days prior to the end of your hold). Placing a membership on hold suspends all member privileges, including advanced registration.

The Volunteer Member Advisory Committee plays a key role in direction of your Centre. Its purpose is to give advice and feedback on operations of the branch from a member/participant perspective and to communicate branch information with other members. If you are interested in becoming a part of this group, please speak with the Membership Director for details.

Facility Rentals / PARTY BOOKINGS

Host your birthday party/celebration at the YMCA! You bring the food, decorations and party supplies, while we provide the facility! Party bookings include the use of either the indoor playground or the pool for up to 15 children/youth.
