YMCA of Northern Alberta chosen by Government of Alberta to operate nineteen child care sites offering $25/day child care under expanded government-funded program

 

The Government of Alberta has signalled its confidence in the YMCA as an experienced and trusted leader in delivering high-quality, affordable, and accessible early learning and child care in Alberta.  As the largest provider of not-for-profit licensed child care in Alberta, the Province selected 29 YMCA Child Care Centres across the province to deliver $25/day child care under an expanded government-funded program:
·YMCA Calgary – 7 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Lethbridge – 1 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Medicine Hat – 2 Child Care Centres
·YMCA of Northern Alberta – 19 Child Care Centres

In granting this funding to YMCAs in Alberta, the government is recognizing our collective expertise in providing developmentally-appropriate and curriculum-based child care throughout the province. 

The YMCA of Northern Alberta was awarded nineteen (19) $25/day Child Care Centre grants at the following locations:

Grande Prairie: 3 locations

  1. YMCA Clairmont Child Care
  2. YMCA Patterson Child Care
  3. YMCA St. John II Child Care (Opening September 2018)

Fort McMurray: 1 location

  1. YMCA Birchwood Child Care

Edmonton: 15 locations

  1. YMCA Beaverbrook Child Care (Spruce Grove)
  2. YMCA Castle Downs Child Care
  3. YMCA Citadel Child Care (St. Albert)
  4. YMCA Clareview Child Care
  5. YMCA Devonshire Child Care
  6. YMCA Ellwood Child Care
  7. YMCA Jamie Platz Child Care
  8. YMCA Kipnes Child Care
  9. YMCA Norwood Child Care
  10. YMCA Parkallen Child Care
  11. YMCA Shirley Stollery Child Care
  12. YMCA St. Gabriel Child Care
  13. YMCA St. Monica Child Care (Opening September 2018)
  14. YMCA Westglen Child Care
  15. YMCA William Lutsky Child Care

The YMCA of Northern Alberta currently provides child care services to over 897 children, aged 12 months to 5 years of age in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray (Wood Buffalo) each week.
