Restrictions Exemption Program
Effective September 20, 2021, everyone 12 years of age and over will be required to show government-issued ID along with government-issued proof of vaccination, or, a negative privately-purchased COVID-19 test upon each visit of a YMCA Health and Wellness Centre.
By implementing the Government of Alberta's Restrictions Exemption Program and requiring proof of vaccination or a recent negative privately-purchased COVID-19 test, YMCA programs and services will continue to be offered uninterrupted.

Starting October 25, 2021, proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to enter all YMCA facilities for those 12 years of age and older. A second dose of COVID-19 vaccine must be issued 14 days prior to entry.
If proof of vaccination is not presented, a negative privately-purchased COVID-19 test obtained within the last 72 hours must be provided. All negative test results must have the name and date of the test clearly visible with the name matching a piece of government-issued identification.
Please note that medical exceptions will not be accepted. A printed or electronic Alberta vaccine record QR code or a recent negative COVID-19 test must be provided.
Existing YMCA mandatory masking and physical distancing guidelines remain in place.
Starting Monday, November 15, 2021, the only acceptable proof of vaccination will be either a previously validated vaccine record on a YMCA Membership Card (Edmonton only) or an Alberta vaccine record QR code. The following procedures for entry will come into effect on November 15, 2021:
- YMCA Members (Edmonton only): Any member who has not previously provided proof of vaccination must present an Alberta vaccine record QR code, or a negative privately-purchased COVID-19 test upon entry to all YMCA of Northern Alberta Health and Wellness centres.
- YMCA Visitors, Community Members & Program Participants (Red Deer, Edmonton, Wood Buffalo regions): Visitors, program participants or individuals assisting or watching participants must present an Alberta vaccine record QR code, or a negative privately-purchased COVID-19 test upon entry to all YMCA of Northern Alberta Health and Wellness centres.
Upon entering any YMCA facility, staff will scan your Membership Card or digital or printed Alberta vaccine record QR code using the AB COVID Records Verifier app, and may ask to confirm your identity using a piece of government-issued ID. Your personal information will not be kept on file at this time.
