This summer, while you’re nearby at work, your kids will be creating new friendships and memories through sports, crafts, activities, and games.  There’s also convenient before and after camp care to make drop off and pickup easy for you - with FREE Pre-Care (7:30 am - 8:45 am) and FREE Post-Care (4:30 pm - 5:30 pm)!

Conveniently available at our beautiful new downtown YMCA Family Resource Centre (9538 103A Avenue -- YMCA Welcome Village) and at the Don Wheaton Family YMCA.

FRENCH CAMPS: This year the YMCA Welcome Village offers French language (French speaking) camps -- see camp guide for details!

We have started REGISTRATION EARLY (available right now!), as last year saw the largest number of YMCA campers in the history of the YMCA of Northern Alberta.  Including the free swim lesson and over 80 free drop-in fitness classes, YMCA Members also receive a discount on all Summer Camps and Day Camps.

As a charity (meaning we make no profit from our Summer Camps), compare our competitive Summer Camp and Day Camp prices with all other facilities.

Our summer camps and day camps are designed to spark the imagination, confidence, independence and communication skills of all our campers.  All participants will have the opportunity to create positive peer and adult friendships.  Through YMCA Healthy Child Development participants will learn physical literacy skills and complete daily physical activity requirements.  Our summer camps and day camps will offer international activities, games, hands on learning, develop skills, create crafts, swimming, and much more.

We will motivate our campers to practice the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Diversity, and Social Inclusion through our bead program.  Campers will have the ability to earn Value Beads throughout their week in camp and add them each day.

Our summer camps and daycamps have been enjoyed by many campers from our surrounding communities, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Acheson, Ardrossan, Fort Saskatechwan, Devon, Enoch, Nisku, Namao, Beaumont, and Morinville.

Please register now -- though we strive to add spots to existing summer camps and/or open up new camps as possible, for the first time ever last year the summer camps were completely filled.  YMCA Members receive a discount on all Summer Camps and Day Camps!

Camp Essentials

Important letter and survey information for parents attending our Summer Camps is now available.

Each camper must have a completely filled-in Medical Form (PDF).

YMCA of Northern Alberta is fully committed to safeguard the welfare of all children in its care.  To help ensure that all children are kept safe at the YMCA, we will be asking for Photo ID to be shown for Day Camp Pick Up by the parent/guardian/identified pick up person on the medical form and sign in sheet.  This mandatory for all YMCA Camps.

Campers’ belongings should be labelled.  The YMCA will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.
YMCA Summer Day Camps are outdoor-based programs, so every camper must bring clothing suitable for all types of weather.  Sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle are also necessary.  Campers must understand the importance of sunscreen and know how to apply it before coming to camp.  Due to the nature of sunscreen allergies, YMCA staff will not provide or apply sunscreen.
Please refer to your receipt/confirmation e-mail for a complete list.
For the safety of all campers during recreational swim, campers 3-7 years will be required to wear a lifejacket.
Campers are required to bring a nutritious and allergen-aware lunch, two snacks, and plenty of cool drinks.  Lunch and snacks can also be purchased by parents before camp at the food service kiosks.
Please note:  Microwaves will not be available to heat up food items.

Transition times are from 8:30 to 8:45AM and 4:15 to 4:30PM daily.  During this time staff will be moving from the pre- care or to the post-care locations.  For the safety of your children we discourage dropping off or picking up your children during transition times and you should expect delays during this time.

We will be conducting a Camp Feedback Survey to help us improve on our program quality.  Please let us know how we are doing.  Camp staff will provide you with the survey and online link.

Camp staff are carefully selected for their leadership skills, enthusiasm and their ability to work with children of all backgrounds and abilities.  All staff members have completed the YMCA Day Camp Training Program, which includes safety and emergency training, standard first aid, CPR, WHMIS, behavior management, physical literacy (NCCP FMS) and YMCA Healthy Child Development.  Camp staff are also required to pass a Police Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Search.

    It's All About the Beads

At YMCA Day Camp, value beads play an important role as a sign of character and personal achievement.  Beads at camp promote positive behaviour, and are worn as a constant reminder of what we value as a camp community.  Throughout the week, beads are awarded to individuals for demonstrating the YMCA core values of friendship, caring, honesty, diversity, social inclusion, responsibility, respect, leadership, and excellence.
