Until July 22, online registration will be temporarily unavailable while we switch to our new online experience. Until then, please call 1-866-421-9622 or come in to your local YMCA to register for any programs, classes, or summer camps.
Adults will progress at their own pace without the pressure of completing levels within the typical lesson structure and time frame.
This program is designed to establish comfort and confidence in the water. Participants will begin with the basic principles of movement and safety in and around water, basic water skills including submersion, floating, gliding, and kicking. Instructors will also present techniques for the beginner stroke standards. Participants will develop swim strokes, improve endurance, and work in the deep end of the pool. Adults will be encouraged to improve their capability to swim further distances using advanced strokes. Swimming endurance is built with an emphasis on increasing fitness and speed.
