  • YMCA Membership card and active membership is required.  If a member cancels, they are no longer eligible for the member parking discount.
  • Individuals who hold membership at other HFAs in Edmonton are required to obtain a member rate discount ticket at the front desk upon each visit to receive member rates in the parkade.
Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I receive the member rates for the parkade?
Members are required to use their YMCA Membership Card when entering and exiting the parkade; you do not need to pull a white ticket.

What happens if my visit starts before 8:30am or 3:30pm and carries over into the next time frame where rate discounts change?
Rates will be automatically calculated, and members do not need to re-enter the parkade to receive the discounts for different time frames. For example, if you enter the parkade at 5:30am and leave at 10:00am, your parking cost will be zero.

What if I forgot my membership card?
If you do not have your membership card when entering the parkade, please pull a white ticket to gain entry.  Stop by the Front Desk to receive a blue rate adjustment ticket. When exiting the parkade or paying at the pay station, put the blue ticket in prior to the white ticket to acquire an adjustment to member rates.

I am a YMCA member at the Jamie Platz YMCA, William Lutsky YMCA, Castle Downs YMCA or Westwood YMCA. Do I receive these rates as well?
Yes. All active membership cards will work, including those who setup their membership at other YMCA of Northern Alberta Health, Fitness & Aquatic locations.

Our Namesake

Don and Marion Wheaton believed, from their early years in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, that “no man is an island” and that we all need to help our neighbors and improve the lives of our fellow citizens as we are able.

As a young adult, Don quietly committed to spend at least an hour each day in some kind of volunteer work for the benefit of his community. It is a commitment he honoured throughout his life.

Don and Marion have been blessed with eight children, 34 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Family and service to the community are values that continue in succeeding generations.

Special thanks to the Don Wheaton Family for dedicating this YMCA to our Edmonton community on October 24, 2007.

General Information

As a YMCA member, you are expected to present your membership card for identification each time you enter the YMCA facility.  This process ensures security and accurate statistics regarding facility usage.  Should you forget your card, you may continue to use the facility with presentation of picture ID or phone number at the YMCA Experience desk.  Lost cards can be replaced at the YMCA Experience desk.

Members are allowed to bring an unlimited number of guests to the YMCA.  All guests are limited to three visits per calendar year at the guest rate and must be signed in at the YMCA Experience desk upon each visit.

Plus Members can bring their children into the Membership Plus locker room on Saturdays, Sundays, and Statutory Holidays.  Children must have an active membership, be supervised at all times, and be under the age of 18 years.

Member Etiquette

As a shared experience for everyone to enjoy, our members, volunteers and staff all pledge to treat one another with respect and dignity.  The YMCA of Northern Alberta is committed to practicing, demonstrating and upholding the YMCA character values of Caring, Respect, Honesty, Social Inclusion, Responsibility, and Diversity.

This pre-booked service is FREE for members (child requires membership) and offers parents the chance to utilize the facility while their children enjoy a safe, interactive and fun environment.  A monthly theme and Active Start Physical Literacy are part of the Play Care Program.

* Don Wheaton will not be offering Childminding on Thursdays (10:15am-1:15pm) for the summer (July & August), due to Summer Day Camps.

Come play with your children in our indoor playground, which has a variety of equipment suitable for children walking to six years.  No food or drink is allowed in the playground for children and parents. Socks must be worn at all times, and active adult supervision is required.

* Effective June 22, Don Wheaton will no longer offer Indoor Playground on Saturdays for the summer (July & August), due to Summer Day Camps.  It will be offered again starting on September 7.

YMCA Membership includes full membership access to all YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres in Edmonton, as well as guest privileges to members at any other YMCA across Canada.

Going on holidays or just need a break?  You can place your membership on hold at no cost!  Provide written notice (at least five business days prior to your next scheduled payment) to place your membership on hold for one to six months.  After your hold, your membership will be reinstated and your account billed unless we receive notification of a change (at least five business days prior to the end of your hold).  Placing a membership on hold suspends all member privileges, including advanced registration.
