Additional Information on our March 12 Reopening

Dear valued YMCA members,
 

Earlier this week, you received an email sharing the exciting news that on Friday, March 12, YMCA health, fitness and aquatics programs and services would resume at our Edmonton locations.
 

Today, we want to provide a few corrections to that email, as well as provide some more information that we hope will clarify the finer details of your future visit to our reopened centres.
 

Clarification on hours of operation at Don Wheaton Family YMCA
 

Starting Friday, March 12, hours of operation at the Don Wheaton Family YMCA will be:
 

  • Monday to Friday - 6:00 am to 7:00 pm
     
  • Weekends and statutory holidays - CLOSED
     
Clarification on available services, mandatory rules and requirements
 

Upon opening on Friday, March 12, the following services will be available:

  • Fitness centre for low-intensity training (including cardio equipment and weights)
     
  • Group fitness, low-intensity classes such as yoga and barre
     
  • Personal training, one on one or for the same household
     
  • Private swim lessons, one on one or for the same household (Castle Downs, Jamie Platz, William Lutsky only)
     
  • Private gymnasium and pool bookings for single persons or for the same household (Castle Downs, Jamie Platz, William Lutsky only)
     

Prior to entering a YMCA, please visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/screening to complete a three-question health screening form. Our staff will be ready to see your green screen as you walk into a centre.
 

All services must be pre-booked. Program schedules will become available for booking at northernalberta.ymca.ca/register over the next few days. Visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/register starting Tuesday, March 9 to start booking your activities. 

 
In compliance with the latest Government of Alberta COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, the following is required of all members and visitors at all times while at any YMCA location:

  • Only low-intensity actively is allowed. Visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/lowintensity to understand more about low-intensity activity.
     
  • All services must be pre-booked. Visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/Register starting Tuesday, March 9 to start booking your activities. 
     
  • Masks or face coverings (medical or non-medical) must be worn at all times, including during physical activity. Masks must also be work while on the pool deck, but not while in swimming pools. Learn more at northernalberta.ymca.ca/masks.
     
Additional rules regarding general and PLUS locker rooms
 
  • General locker rooms are available to store belongings, however, you are encouraged to arrive workout-ready and to shower at home if possible.
     
  • PLUS locker rooms are available to store belongings, however, the steam room and hot tub will be closed in order to adhere to public health guidelines. All members are encouraged to arrive workout-ready and to shower at home if possible.
     
Clarification on membership holds


All memberships will resume automatically on April 19, 2021. If you are not ready to restart your membership or that of a family member, you must let us know by extending your membership hold. This must be completed no later than April 16, 2021. You will have the option for your membership to be placed on hold for three (3) or six (6) months.
 

To extend your hold, please visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/hold and complete the hold extension form.
 

Please note: Members who do not extend their hold (by completing the above form) will have their membership automatically reactivated. Payments will resume on April 19, 2021.
 

If you wish, you can cancel your membership by using the same form (northernalberta.ymca.ca/hold) after April 12, 2021. We will not be accepting cancellation requests until that time.
