January 29: YMCA Responds to Updated Provincial Restrictions

To our YMCA community,

Just moments ago the Government of Alberta announced the lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions relating to one-on-one indoor fitness.

Please note this announcement relates to one-on-one training only. At this time, the Government of Alberta has not lifted or loosened the COVID-19 restrictions that would allow for the delivery of YMCA health and fitness programs and services or the opening of YMCA Community Centres. At this time, health and fitness services will continue to be closed at the following locations*:

Edmonton Region

  • Boyle Street Community Centre and YMCA Family Resource Centre
  • Castle Downs Family YMCA**
  • Don Wheaton Family YMCA
  • Jamie Platz Family YMCA
  • William Lutsky Family YMCA

Red Deer Region

  • Northside Community Centre

Wood Buffalo Region

  • Eagle Ridge Community Centre

*Please note, community programs and services, as well as YMCA Child Care, continue to be open at these locations.

** The North Central Edmonton Family Resource Network remains open at the Castle Downs Family YMCA.

Because restrictions have not yet been lifted by the Government of Alberta, all YMCA health, fitness and aquatic programs and services and YMCA Community Centres remain closed until further notice and all memberships remain on hold with no action required.

Your YMCA is committed to offering health, fitness and aquatic programs and services and opening YMCA Community Centres as quickly as the Government of Alberta deems it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. You truly make the YMCA a community.

Stay safe and well,

Your YMCA of Northern Alberta family
