Reopening Information
Dear members of the Castle Downs Family YMCA, We have some exciting news to share! Earlier this month we shared that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is having a tremendous financial impact on the Castle Downs Family YMCA and that we would require both the return of our loyal members and additional third-party support for the centre to be financially viable. We also shared that we had been working closely with the City of Edmonton and made a formal request to City Council for $1 million to support the operation of the Castle Downs Family YMCA in 2021. We are excited to share that the City of Edmonton's Mayor and Council approved up to $1 million in support of the Castle Downs Family YMCA as part of their budget decisions for 2021. Unfortunately, all community, recreation and aquatics centres will be closed across Alberta starting December 13th, 2020, in compliance with the latest COVID-19 restrictions announced by the Government of Alberta. However, this generous support by the City of Edmonton means that as soon as health, fitness and aquatics program can safely resume, the Castle Downs Family YMCA will be opening. Be rest assured that your membership continues to be on hold. Memberships will only re-start after health, fitness and aquatic programs and services resume at the Castle Downs Family YMCA. You will be given the opportunity to extend your membership hold if you are not ready to return. No action is required at this time. Also, a reminder that YMCA Child Care and the Family Resource Network are open at the Castle Downs YMCA to service the community. We look forward to connecting with YMCA health, fitness and aquatic programs can resume at the Castle Downs Family YMCA in the new year. Stay well and seasons greetings, YMCA of Northern Alberta |
