We're excited to be open to our community once again! 


Stage 3 Updates

The Government of Alberta announced that Stage 3 of the Open for Summer Plan will come into effect on July 1, 2021. Stage 3 of the Open for Summer Plan sees the lifting of all restrictions, and a long-awaited return to normal this summer. View our June 29 announcement for details on upcoming changes to YMCA Health and Wellness Centres.

  • Capacity and physical distancing guidelines will remain in effect until further notice.
  • Pre-booking will continue to be required for lane swimming, family swimming, group fitness classes and all sports using YMCA courts.
  • Pre-visit health screening is no longer required, however, please keep these questions in mind:
    • Are you sick, or, do you have new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19?
    • Have you had close contact* with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days?​​​​​
    • Have you travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

      If you answer "yes" to any of the above questions, we ask that you do not enter a YMCA facility.

      *If you are immunized for COVID-19, different quarantine rules and testing recommendations may apply if you are exposed to a person with COVID-19. Visit Alberta Health Services' website for more information.
  • Masks will no longer be required, however, they continue to be strongly recommended.
  • Fitness Equipment will continue to be spaced for distancing.
  • Water bottle filling stations are available for use. Please be sure to bring your own water bottle, as personal water fountain use is not available at this time.
  • YMCA Memberships are back! If you have questions about your membership, contact our team or visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/HFAFAQ.
  • YMCA Plus members can access the Plus Locker Rooms.
    • Towel service and razor distribution will continue at the entry desk.
    • To keep you safe, shared amenities such as shaving cream, deodorant, body lotion, etc. will not be provided at this time. Newspaper service will be unavailable and social seating will be limited to adhere to 2-metre physical distancing.
    • Hot tubs and steam rooms will be open with capacity limits posted.​​​​​​​

North Central Edmonton Family Resource Network (FRN) Hub

We're excited to announce the opening of the North Central Edmonton Family Resource Network (FRN) at Castle Downs Family YMCA! This hub is funded by the Government of Alberta to offer programs and resources for families with kids 0-18. We're proud to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area, Creating Hope Society and KARA Family Resource Centre (FRC) to support our community.
