NEW for January 2022, we're launching our Women's Intro to Fitness program!

  • Women's Intro to Fitness: Alongside a YMCA Personal Trainer, we'll take you through the basics of training your core, cardio and muscular strength using both machines and free weights, functional training space and cardio equipment. This program aims to help women grow their confidence in using gym facilities while improving fitness.

NEW for Spring 2022, we're launching our Golf Conditioning and Functional Fitness for Older Adults programs!

  • Golf Conditioning: Get ready to improve your golf swing and avoid injury through a conditioning program that focuses on bodyweight exercises, core strengthening, balance and agility training. Registration for this new sports and recreation program opens on Tuesday, November 30.
  • Functional Fitness for Older Adults: This functional fitness class is focused on teaching older adults how exercise improves their ability to perform daily activities by working on balance, flexibility and stability.

Childrens' Sports & Recreation (Registered)

Children’s sports and recreation programs focus on developing fundamental movement skills and age-appropriate activity and game practice. Our programs provide opportunities for children to increase competence and confidence in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.

Programs offered typically include basketball, Creative Expressions, floor hockey, Kids in the Kitchen, multi-sport, Science Explorers, soccer and volleyball!

January – June Registration Information

Winter and spring programming are right around the corner! We have the following programming sessions this winter and spring: 

  • Winter Session: January 10 – February 27 (7 weeks)
  • Spring Session I: February 28 – May 1 (9 weeks)
  • Spring Session II: May 2 – June 26 (8 weeks)

Adult Sports & Recreation

From pickleball and badminton to basketball, volleyball and open gym, YMCA Health and Wellness Centres in Edmonton can host sports and recreation activities for everyone from the seasoned pro to newbies!

  • We have gymnasium and court spaces available at our Castle Downs, Don Wheaton, Jamie Platz and William Lutsky Family YMCAs and Boyle Street Plaza*! Visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/Register to book your court time online.
    • *Boyle Street Plaza offers drop-in badminton on Sundays from 2–5pm starting in January 2022! Drop-in fee is $5. Bring your own equipment or you can borrow on-site! 
    • *Boyle Street Plaza also offers drop-in basketball on Fridays starting in January 2022! Youth basketball (12–18 years) is from 9–10:30pm, followed by young adults (18+ years) hitting the courts from 10:30pm–Midnight. Drop-in fee is $5. Bring your own equipment or you can borrow on-site!
  • Sports offerings can vary by centre, but typically include basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, floor hockey, squash*, racquetball* and pickleball.
    • *Squash/Racquetball: Our Castle Downs, Jamie Platz and William Lutsky Family YMCAs in Edmonton are outfitted with squash courts.
    • To book with our Boyle Street Plaza, visit northernalberta.ymca.ca/Pickleball.
